Tormented Out Now!

It’s here, a literal Hell on Earth. Dare you enter the asylum? Finally – I’m thrilled to be able to announce that my third book, Tormented, is out now! You can pick it up on Amazon straight away in ebook form and dive into the gory-goodness. Tormented takes its inspiration from such horror greats as John Carpenters, The Thing, and Clive Barkers, Hellraiser. It tells the story of Adrian James, a tortured man who voluntarily commits himself into Arlington Asylum, but soon finds out that things are not what he had hoped. Certain… experiments… are carried out on the patients, ones that unleash a terrible evil. And when the shit hits the fan – and believe me, it does – you are going to want to make sure you have an empty stomach! Pick it up now and let me know what you think: Amazon US Amazon UK We even

Where the Darkness Reigns

I wanted to make a quick post today to let everyone know about a new book that is out, one which I am really looking forward to. Where the Darkness Reigns, by the fantastic Duncan Thompson, has been released today and looks to be a completion of his ‘Darkness’ trilogy. I’ve read the other books in this series and can safely say they are fantastic, fast-paced reads. For those who love a good, full-on horror story, I can heartily recommend this author. I’ll be picking up Where the Darkness Reigns today and wanted to give a shout out to it, in the hopes that some of you may want to do the same. You definitely won’t regret it. You can find the book on Amazon: Amazon US Amazon UK Do yourselves a favour and take a chance on this one. And stay tuned to the website for an announcement this weekend.

Tormented edges closer…

Quick update to say that my next book – Tormented – is edging ever closer to release. It has now gone back off to the editor for a final pass. When I get the manuscript back from him, I’ll make the changes then get the thing released! Boom! It will be uploaded to Amazon within a few days of getting the edits back, and I’d anticipate the Paperback will be out a couple of weeks after that, with the Audiobook following on not too far behind. I’m really excited about the release, and fans of Horror in the Woods should really enjoy it. It is very violent and gruesome, with horrific monsters that would make Clive Barker proud! Here is a little description that I am working on, that will be on the Amazon product page upon release (though it is still subject to change): TORMENTED WELCOME TO ARLINGTON ASYLUM,

Horror Anthology Out Now

Cool news today – a new horror anthology is now out, featuring a ton of 100-word stories (known as drabbles). I was lucky enough to be asked to submit a story for it, so pick up a copy and look out for my entry, ‘Betrayal’. The compilation is a lot of fun and it’s amazing what can be done with only 100 words. The authors in this collection are absolutely phenomenal, and I can’t believe I’m featured along side them. So check out 100 Word Horrors: An Anthology of Horror Drabbles, and give yourself a good scare tonight! – Lee
Demonic Audiobook Coming Soon
Hello! I hope 2018 has been kind to everyone so far. The Audiobook for The Demonic is now complete and submitted to ACX for approval. This means that it should be live in the next 4 – 10 days, depending on how long they take. But it’s so close now I can taste it. And, to celebrate the release, I plan on giving away free codes to people who are willing to leave an honest review of the book on Audible. Seems like a fair deal, so those that are interested, please drop me an email: leemountford01@googlemail.com In your email, if you could let me know if you are U.S or U.K based (as that will determine which code type to send) and also what user-handle you use (or will use) on Audible, so I can look out for the review. And if you want to drop me an email once

Update!

I know things have been quiet on this blog recently, but that’s only because I’ve been so busy with a variety of things. However, they are all taking shape now, so I thought it was a good time for an update. First of all my next book, Tormented, has just gone off to the editor! It was booked in for the beginning of February but I wrapped the manuscript up early and sent it off. When it comes back I will make any required changes, and then send it off for another proofread. After that, it will be ready for release, and I’m hoping it will be out by the end of February. If you thought Horror in the Woods was gory, wait until you read this – it definitely cranks things up a few notches. One for the gore-hounds, but not those with a weak stomach. Then there is

2018!

First of all – Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2018 brings you everything you are working towards. And with that in mind, I thought I’d lay down in writing my plans for this coming year, to make sure I stick to them. I’ve looked back over 2017 – my first year as a Self-Published author. My first book, Horror in the Woods, was released in May of that year, and my second, The Demonic, was released in July. I wrote these back to back and had the first drafts of both ready before the first book was even published, which is why they were put out only two months apart. Since then I’ve not managed to release another book, so the production schedule slowed somewhat. The reason for this was actually a really good one and one I am thankful for – my baby daughter, Ella, came
Self Publishing How To Guide
Okay, I’m far from an expert in this. In fact, with only two novels out, I’m a decidedly low-to-mid list Self-Published author. However, a few friends and readers have asked about how I got started and how I went about getting my books out there. So, rather than send everyone separate emails outlining all of this, I thought it would be easier to compile into one post and share here. Please be aware that this guide will basically be pointing you to better-placed, more successful authors and their material. If it helped me, I’ll show it here. While I’m happy with how I’ve done since May of this year, I’m by no means as successful as some out there, not by a long shot. But what I have learned is that to get any kind of success, you need to spend a little bit of money up front. There are ways to

Two little tidbits today that may be of interest to people! Firstly, I wanted to let everyone know that both of my books – Horror in the Woods & The Demonic – are on a Kindle Countdown Deal, and are now only $0.99 in the US and £0.99 in the UK for the next week! If there is one (or both) that you don’t have, now is a good time to rectify that. You can find out more at the following links: US Author Page UK Author Page Second – who wants a free audiobook??? Well, it just so happens that I have free copies of Horror in the Woods to give away. There is a teeny, tiny catch (isn’t there always), but a free audiobook is a free audiobook! Tormented Delayed

Okay, so after a lot of deliberation, I’ve decided to start over with Tormented. But don’t worry, it is a good thing! It was a tough decision but I’ve just come back from a weeks holiday and the whole time I was away I had this nagging doubt about the story. As it stood, it was about 70 percent done, but while it was a lot of fun (and had a shit-ton of gore) I just knew I could do better. It was all very straight-forward and basic. So I’m going back to the drawing board and plotting the thing out again, this time giving it more meat-on-the-bones (thanks to some new ideas I’ve had). I think it will really help flesh out the story and give it that little extra ‘oomph’. A lot of what I already have can still be used in some way and the basic concept

Tormented Update

I just wanted to post a quick update on the progress of Tormented: I’m pushing ahead as quickly as I can – I’m roughly halfway through – and… well… this thing is going to be gruesome! I always knew it was going to be more Horror in the Woods than The Demonic, but I’m at the halfway point in the story and things are about to really ramp up. And things were pretty bad before this point! This isn’t going to be for those with a weak stomach. But rather than the mutant cannibals of Horror in the Woods, this story is going to deal with macabre and nightmarish creatures from a hellish dimension. The monsters are definitely inspired by things like Silent Hill, The Thing and Jacobs Ladder. And hopefully, all you beautiful sicko’s out there will love it 🙂 After this book I’m going to work on a

Short Story Collection?

Just wanted to throw this idea out there to see what sort of interest there would be. As you will probably know if you follow me, I am currently working on my next novel – Tormented – and then after that, I have another one planned. Now, I’ve been reading a few short horror story collections recently, and I’ve really enjoyed them, so am considering putting together a book full of short stories/novellas and putting that out there as my fifth release. My plan is very much to keep releasing full novels as regular as I can, but I thought the short story collection would be a nice change of pace, and wondered how many people out there read these sort of books? So, what do people think? Good idea, or no? – Lee

Just wanted to post a quick update today to let everyone know that the audiobook for Horror in the Woods is available now on Amazon / Audible, and will be live on iTunes within a few days. A Little surprise today for those that are interested… The cover for Tormented is ready! It was made by the fine people at The Cover Collection and, like all my previous covers, I absolutely love it! I hope readers like it as much as I do, so let me know your thoughts. The book is coming along well, and I’m hoping for a release either the back end of November or sometime in December. Then I can hopefully roll straight on to the next one and have my fourth book out before May 2018. That would mean four novels in my first year, which isn’t bad, and something to build on for year two. – Lee
Horror In The Woods Audiobook Coming Soon
Just a quick update today to say the audiobook for Horror in the Woods is getting closer to release. The fantastic Han Hills has just finished the production and it has now been submitted to ACX for approval. Once they have done what they need to, it should be up on Amazon and iTunes for your listening pleasure. I’m really excited about the release as Han has done such a fantastic job, throwing himself into the role to really bring the characters to life. Wait until you hear Henry & Grandpa! Once it is live I will update the website and shout about it on social media so no one misses out, but keep an eye out for it – should be out in the next couple of weeks (hopefully less).
