Tormented edges closer…

Quick update to say that my next book – Tormented – is edging ever closer to release. It has now gone back off to the editor for a final pass. When I get the manuscript back from him, I’ll make the changes then get the thing released! Boom! It will be uploaded to Amazon within a few days of getting the edits back, and I’d anticipate the Paperback will be out a couple of weeks after that, with the Audiobook following on not too far behind. I’m really excited about the release, and fans of Horror in the Woods should really enjoy it. It is very violent and gruesome, with horrific monsters that would make Clive Barker proud! Here is a little description that I am working on, that will be on the Amazon product page upon release (though it is still subject to change): TORMENTED WELCOME TO ARLINGTON ASYLUM,

Horror Anthology Out Now

Cool news today – a new horror anthology is now out, featuring a ton of 100-word stories (known as drabbles). I was lucky enough to be asked to submit a story for it, so pick up a copy and look out for my entry, ‘Betrayal’. The compilation is a lot of fun and it’s amazing what can be done with only 100 words. The authors in this collection are absolutely phenomenal, and I can’t believe I’m featured along side them. So check out 100 Word Horrors: An Anthology of Horror Drabbles, and give yourself a good scare tonight! – Lee
Demonic Audiobook Coming Soon
Hello! I hope 2018 has been kind to everyone so far. The Audiobook for The Demonic is now complete and submitted to ACX for approval. This means that it should be live in the next 4 – 10 days, depending on how long they take. But it’s so close now I can taste it. And, to celebrate the release, I plan on giving away free codes to people who are willing to leave an honest review of the book on Audible. Seems like a fair deal, so those that are interested, please drop me an email: leemountford01@googlemail.com In your email, if you could let me know if you are U.S or U.K based (as that will determine which code type to send) and also what user-handle you use (or will use) on Audible, so I can look out for the review. And if you want to drop me an email once

Update!

I know things have been quiet on this blog recently, but that’s only because I’ve been so busy with a variety of things. However, they are all taking shape now, so I thought it was a good time for an update. First of all my next book, Tormented, has just gone off to the editor! It was booked in for the beginning of February but I wrapped the manuscript up early and sent it off. When it comes back I will make any required changes, and then send it off for another proofread. After that, it will be ready for release, and I’m hoping it will be out by the end of February. If you thought Horror in the Woods was gory, wait until you read this – it definitely cranks things up a few notches. One for the gore-hounds, but not those with a weak stomach. Then there is

2018!

First of all – Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2018 brings you everything you are working towards. And with that in mind, I thought I’d lay down in writing my plans for this coming year, to make sure I stick to them. I’ve looked back over 2017 – my first year as a Self-Published author. My first book, Horror in the Woods, was released in May of that year, and my second, The Demonic, was released in July. I wrote these back to back and had the first drafts of both ready before the first book was even published, which is why they were put out only two months apart. Since then I’ve not managed to release another book, so the production schedule slowed somewhat. The reason for this was actually a really good one and one I am thankful for – my baby daughter, Ella, came
Self Publishing How To Guide
Okay, I’m far from an expert in this. In fact, with only two novels out, I’m a decidedly low-to-mid list Self-Published author. However, a few friends and readers have asked about how I got started and how I went about getting my books out there. So, rather than send everyone separate emails outlining all of this, I thought it would be easier to compile into one post and share here. Please be aware that this guide will basically be pointing you to better-placed, more successful authors and their material. If it helped me, I’ll show it here. While I’m happy with how I’ve done since May of this year, I’m by no means as successful as some out there, not by a long shot. But what I have learned is that to get any kind of success, you need to spend a little bit of money up front. There are ways to
Spooky Audible
Two little tidbits today that may be of interest to people! Firstly, I wanted to let everyone know that both of my books – Horror in the Woods & The Demonic – are on a Kindle Countdown Deal, and are now only $0.99 in the US and £0.99 in the UK for the next week! If there is one (or both) that you don’t have, now is a good time to rectify that. You can find out more at the following links: US Author Page UK Author Page Second – who wants a free audiobook??? Well, it just so happens that I have free copies of Horror in the Woods to give away. There is a teeny, tiny catch (isn’t there always), but a free audiobook is a free audiobook! All I need from you in return is the promise that you will donate your liver to me should I need

Tormented Delayed

Okay, so after a lot of deliberation, I’ve decided to start over with Tormented. But don’t worry, it is a good thing! It was a tough decision but I’ve just come back from a weeks holiday and the whole time I was away I had this nagging doubt about the story. As it stood, it was about 70 percent done, but while it was a lot of fun (and had a shit-ton of gore) I just knew I could do better. It was all very straight-forward and basic. So I’m going back to the drawing board and plotting the thing out again, this time giving it more meat-on-the-bones (thanks to some new ideas I’ve had). I think it will really help flesh out the story and give it that little extra ‘oomph’. A lot of what I already have can still be used in some way and the basic concept

Tormented Update

I just wanted to post a quick update on the progress of Tormented: I’m pushing ahead as quickly as I can – I’m roughly halfway through – and… well… this thing is going to be gruesome! I always knew it was going to be more Horror in the Woods than The Demonic, but I’m at the halfway point in the story and things are about to really ramp up. And things were pretty bad before this point! This isn’t going to be for those with a weak stomach. But rather than the mutant cannibals of Horror in the Woods, this story is going to deal with macabre and nightmarish creatures from a hellish dimension. The monsters are definitely inspired by things like Silent Hill, The Thing and Jacobs Ladder. And hopefully, all you beautiful sicko’s out there will love it 🙂 After this book I’m going to work on a

Short Story Collection?

Just wanted to throw this idea out there to see what sort of interest there would be. As you will probably know if you follow me, I am currently working on my next novel – Tormented – and then after that, I have another one planned. Now, I’ve been reading a few short horror story collections recently, and I’ve really enjoyed them, so am considering putting together a book full of short stories/novellas and putting that out there as my fifth release. My plan is very much to keep releasing full novels as regular as I can, but I thought the short story collection would be a nice change of pace, and wondered how many people out there read these sort of books? So, what do people think? Good idea, or no? – Lee
Horror In The Woods
Woop, woop! Just wanted to post a quick update today to let everyone know that the audiobook for Horror in the Woods is available now on Amazon / Audible, and will be live on iTunes within a few days. Amazon US Amazon UK I’m really excited to see what people think as I think the narrator/producer, the fantastic Han Hills, has done an amazing job with this. So, if horror and audiobooks are your thing, be sure to check this out and let me know what you think! And lastly, we will soon be getting started on the audiobook for The Demonic as well, and we are shooting for a pre-xmas release. All exciting stuff! Hope all is well with everyone out there. – Lee
A Little surprise today for those that are interested… The cover for Tormented is ready! It was made by the fine people at The Cover Collection and, like all my previous covers, I absolutely love it! I hope readers like it as much as I do, so let me know your thoughts. The book is coming along well, and I’m hoping for a release either the back end of November or sometime in December. Then I can hopefully roll straight on to the next one and have my fourth book out before May 2018. That would mean four novels in my first year, which isn’t bad, and something to build on for year two. – Lee
Horror In The Woods Audiobook Coming Soon
Just a quick update today to say the audiobook for Horror in the Woods is getting closer to release. The fantastic Han Hills has just finished the production and it has now been submitted to ACX for approval. Once they have done what they need to, it should be up on Amazon and iTunes for your listening pleasure. I’m really excited about the release as Han has done such a fantastic job, throwing himself into the role to really bring the characters to life. Wait until you hear Henry & Grandpa! Once it is live I will update the website and shout about it on social media so no one misses out, but keep an eye out for it – should be out in the next couple of weeks (hopefully less). And next up for audiobook production is The Demonic! – Lee

Tormented – Chapter 1

As a little taster, I wanted to share the first draft of the first chapter for my upcoming book – Tormented! Any or all of this could be subject to change, of course, but this is what I have so far. Hopefully, it is enough to pique peoples interest: Chapter 1 The man looked down to the familiar form of his loved one below him as it begged for its life to be spared. ‘Please,’ the dying person said, ‘don’t. Not like this.’ But the man wasn’t listening. Nothing was going to stop what was about to happen. Because it had already happened. The act of taking the life was every bit as difficult and soul destroying as he remembered it to be; the continued pleading and the weak resistance—which was easily overcome as the last hold of life slipped away from the now still body. The room, lit only

Next Book Progressing…

Okay, so the third book is taking longer to progress than I’d hoped. However, given the arrival of my daughter, that is to be expected. BUT – progress is being made. I swear. For one, I have a title. Tormented. I think it fits the story really well and I would be proud of it but… my wife came up with it in all honesty. For someone who claims not to like horror, she sure is good at coming up with ideas for it! And the story is coming together as well. I always like to have an outline ready before I start writing, and I’m hoping to have that done in a week or two. Then the first draft should only take a month or so after that. I’m hoping for a release in November. And to give you a little taste: It opens with a vivid dream, well,
Demonic Five Stars
Just wanted to throw a quick post up today as The Demonic has been reviewed by the awesome people at Horror After Dark (www.horrorafterdark.com) and has received a glowing write up! You can check out the review here! I’m thrilled at how well The Demonic is being received, as I was with Horror in the Woods, and hope I can keep churning out books that people like. I know you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but I can damn well try! I would also recommend people have a look at some of the other books reviewed on Horror After Dark, as there are some fantastic works on there that are well worth you time. Lastly, I’m not sure if people know, but the founder of Horror Novel Reviews, Matt Molgaard, has unfortunately passed away after suffering from a stroke. I had some brief discussions with

Demonic is a Bestseller!

Just wanted to throw out a massive thank you to everyone that has supported The Demonic. It has just hit the No 1 slot in British Horror Authors on the Amazon.com Kindle Store, and is now officially a ‘Best Seller’! Woop woop! So, again, thank you to everyone who took a chance on the book and has left positive feedback. I’m thrilled people are enjoying it. Also, just wanted to mention that I know some people are having trouble signing up to my Mailing List. If so, please drop me an email at: leemountford01@googlemail.com and I will get you added manually, and make sure the free stories are sent over. And lastly, still on cloud 9 about recently becoming a dad. My baby daughter Ella is absolutely perfect and, as you would expect, is taking up most of my time. The writing will continue soon, but I’m obviously taking a
