Screamfix Interview

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Karen Ruffles from Screamfix, which is a great website that showcases independent horror. You can check out the review HERE – be sure to let me know what you think. Also, Karen produces some fantastic gothic art, which you can find on her website, Drawing in the Dark. I highly recommend checking this out too! – Lee
Well, the day is finally here – I’m thrilled to announce that the Audiobook for Tormented is now out! I can’t tell you how excited I am for people to hear this, as the narrator – Hannibal Hills – has done some phenomenal work. A little while ago I put out a call for anyone who wanted a free copy in exchange for an honest review to drop me an email. Those people have now received their codes (and if you were one of those, but haven’t, please let me know), but there are more left, so if anyone else wants one, just let me know. You can get Tormented on Amazon, using the links below: Amazon US Amazon UK Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think. – Lee
Demonic Five Stars
As of the 21st of July (yesterday, at the time of writing), The Demonic has been out for one whole year. A few months ago I posted a recap of how Horror in the Woods performed over the course of its first year, so I thought I would do the same here. I’m not going to do this with every book, and will probably stop with this one, but given Horror in the Woods and The Demonic were the two books released in my first year of doing this, I thought it was a good bookend to do a follow-up with The Demonic. So, in the twelve months since its release, The Demonic has performed thusly: Sold over 6,700 ebooks. Had over 2.3 million page reads in Kindle Unlimited. Sold 358 paperbacks. Sold 956 audiobooks. It has 90 reviews on Amazon and sits at a 3.6 average out of 5.
Exciting news today! The Audiobook version of Tormented is getting very close to release. My producer, Hannibal Hills, had previously sent all the files over for review, which I have just completed. I have to say, with no bias at all, that this thing is going to be amazing!!! Han has brought this story to life in a way I could scarcely imagine. So for fans of Tormented, and those that have not had the sickening pleasure of the story as yet, you will definitely want to pick this up. I have approved all the files and they are now just with ACX (distributor) for their review, and should be going live in about 10-14 days time (possibly sooner). But wait, there’s more. How would you like a free copy of the audiobook? Well, if so, you’re in luck. ACX gives me 25 free codes for the US store, and

Just wanted to make a quick post today to give a shout out to a couple of authors whose works I have really enjoyed. If you are looking for some horror books to dive into, then look no further than these two: The Gravewatcher by Rockwell Scott Every night at 3 AM, he visits the graveyard and speaks to someone who isn’t there. Eleanor has created an ideal life for herself in New York City with a career that keeps her too busy, just as she likes it. But when she receives an anonymous message that her estranged brother Dennis is dead, her fast-paced routine grinds to a halt. She rushes to Finnick, Louisiana — the small, backward town where her brother lived and temporarily settles into his creepy, turn-of-the-century house until she can figure out how he died. But that night, Eleanor spots a young boy in the cemetery

Switching it up

So as many of you know, I have been working on a Supernatural novel for a while now, but unfortunately, the damn thing is taking its time to plot and flesh out. To the point where I’m forcing it now, and am a little worried that, by forcing it, the story won’t be as good as I wanted it to be. Given that, I’ve made the decision to put that story on the back-burner for a little while, just to give it time to breathe and percolate. It will still get written in the near future, but for the time being I’m switching things up and moving on to a different idea that is mostly fleshed out already. Hopefully this next book, whilst still a Supernatural horror (more in the style of The Demonic that Horror in the Woods or Tormented) will be ready and released in 2-3 months. The
My first book, Horror in the Woods, was released exactly one year ago today (at the time of writing). Not much of a milestone, granted, but for me, it is a pretty good feeling! Given it is now a year old, I decided to have a look back at how my first book has performed, and am thrilled with the results. For an author fresh out of the gate, with no catalogue behind him, this violent little story about a family of cannibals in the woods who feast on poor passers-by, has done quite well. To give you some numbers: Sold 3000 ebook copies. Over 1 million pages read in Kindle Unlimited (1,150,000 +). Sold 145 paperback copies. Sold 199 Audiobooks. In addition, it is currently sitting with 99 (mostly positive) reviews on Amazon.com. If you haven’t already, you can pick it up on Amazon: Amazon US Amazon UK So,

My new novel, Tormented, is on sale now for a limited time only. If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to pick up the ebook for only $0.99 / £0.99. You can grab your copy here: Amazon US Amazon UK Here are what some horror fans are saying about it: *** Just finished Tormented, and absolutely loved it. Hugely reminiscent of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser work, but with a visceral darkness that savagely echoes all the best and lingering horrors found in Lovecraft. This book builds upon the mythology found in his previous works, Horror In The Woods and The Demonic, and gives us a wider, more terrifying view of the darker universe that touches ours, and the terrible fates that await there. The end is incredibly satisfying, and readers who love the intense finales of his previous books will not be disappointed. The last three chapters give us

The House of Long Shadows

For people who haven’t yet heard of him (and if that is you, rectify that immediately), I’m a big fan of horror author Ambrose Ibsen. Every book of his I read I enjoy, my first foray into his world being The Sick House, and now I’m working my way through his Afterlife Investigations Trilogy. I’d highly recommend checking out his work and, as it happens, he has just released a new haunted house book! I’ve already picked up my copy, and if you are interested now is the time as it’s only $0.99 / £0.99 (which I don’t think will last). Grab your copies here: Amazon US Amazon UK Here is the description from Amazon: The house at 889 Morgan Road has been empty almost thirty years. Maybe it should have stayed that way. If you are a fan of Lee Mountford then you will expect the book to be good..deep…and raw. You won’t be disappointed. Tormented Out Now!

It’s here, a literal Hell on Earth. Dare you enter the asylum? Finally – I’m thrilled to be able to announce that my third book, Tormented, is out now! You can pick it up on Amazon straight away in ebook form and dive into the gory-goodness. Tormented takes its inspiration from such horror greats as John Carpenters, The Thing, and Clive Barkers, Hellraiser. It tells the story of Adrian James, a tortured man who voluntarily commits himself into Arlington Asylum, but soon finds out that things are not what he had hoped. Certain… experiments… are carried out on the patients, ones that unleash a terrible evil. And when the shit hits the fan – and believe me, it does – you are going to want to make sure you have an empty stomach! Pick it up now and let me know what you think: Amazon US Amazon UK We even

Where the Darkness Reigns

I wanted to make a quick post today to let everyone know about a new book that is out, one which I am really looking forward to. Where the Darkness Reigns, by the fantastic Duncan Thompson, has been released today and looks to be a completion of his ‘Darkness’ trilogy. I’ve read the other books in this series and can safely say they are fantastic, fast-paced reads. For those who love a good, full-on horror story, I can heartily recommend this author. I’ll be picking up Where the Darkness Reigns today and wanted to give a shout out to it, in the hopes that some of you may want to do the same. You definitely won’t regret it. You can find the book on Amazon: Amazon US Amazon UK Do yourselves a favour and take a chance on this one. And stay tuned to the website for an announcement this weekend.

Tormented edges closer…

Quick update to say that my next book – Tormented – is edging ever closer to release. It has now gone back off to the editor for a final pass. When I get the manuscript back from him, I’ll make the changes then get the thing released! Boom! It will be uploaded to Amazon within a few days of getting the edits back, and I’d anticipate the Paperback will be out a couple of weeks after that, with the Audiobook following on not too far behind. I’m really excited about the release, and fans of Horror in the Woods should really enjoy it. It is very violent and gruesome, with horrific monsters that would make Clive Barker proud! Here is a little description that I am working on, that will be on the Amazon product page upon release (though it is still subject to change): TORMENTED WELCOME TO ARLINGTON ASYLUM,

Horror Anthology Out Now

Cool news today – a new horror anthology is now out, featuring a ton of 100-word stories (known as drabbles). I was lucky enough to be asked to submit a story for it, so pick up a copy and look out for my entry, ‘Betrayal’. The compilation is a lot of fun and it’s amazing what can be done with only 100 words. The authors in this collection are absolutely phenomenal, and I can’t believe I’m featured along side them. Demonic Audiobook Coming Soon
Hello! I hope 2018 has been kind to everyone so far. The Audiobook for The Demonic is now complete and submitted to ACX for approval. This means that it should be live in the next 4 – 10 days, depending on how long they take. But it’s so close now I can taste it. And, to celebrate the release, I plan on giving away free codes to people who are willing to leave an honest review of the book on Audible. Seems like a fair deal, so those that are interested, please drop me an email: leemountford01@googlemail.com In your email, if you could let me know if you are U.S or U.K based (as that will determine which code type to send) and also what user-handle you use (or will use) on Audible, so I can look out for the review. And if you want to drop me an email once
